Frangi Tree

Renewal

The rebirth of nature and her cycles, the changing colors of the landscape, the increased hours of daylight and the more frequent days of sunlight – Don’t you already feel the energy emanating around you? Welcome all to Spring!

When we lived in Vancouver, B.C., the cherry blossoms in springtime were an incredibly majestic site to behold.  There’s a city tour that I had always wanted to participate in – alas that will be for another snapshot in time.

Here in the Caribbean, we have the Frangipani tree as featured above.  This tropical beauty boasts the most fragrant of blossoms; very sweet and spicy.  Often seen tucked in behind the ear adding a certain playfulness and charm to any engagement. 🙂

So, you may ask “What does all of this have to do with renewal?”

We are trained to keep our fears, inner struggles and failures to ourselves.  Yet, when asked about when we have learned or grown the most in life, it often comes from these difficult passages when we struggled and grappled with hardship.  Renewal and spiritual growth have much in common….

When it comes to handling change, we all know people who fall into one of two camps.  Those who emerge stronger, happier and more resilient because of what they’ve experienced.  They operate from a place of self-realization and love.  They’re more grounded, reflective, unflappable, humble and my favorite – quietly confident that no matter what happens, they will have the ability to summon the resources necessary to handle anything that comes their way.

The other camp has an alternate sub culture, if you will.  Even though on the surface they may be successful, this second group operates from a place of cautiousness, secrecy and fear.  Constantly on alert and asserting their control, they are ever vigilant over the next threat they will need to confront.  They’ve come through some tough times and may be tired and unsure of their ability to land on their feet should tough decisions come again.

Know this!
Organizations cannot move beyond the point where leaders themselves have ventured.

the alchemistLife is always whispering to us. Listening to what our inner self is calling us to experience, express and share with others is truly when we become one with the universe – a seamless flow of life energy. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is one of those books that I have felt ‘called’ to pick up every few years as a reminder of the journey within. Here’s an excerpt:

“My heart is afraid that it will have to suffer,” the boy told the alchemist one night as they looked up at the moonless sky. “Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams.”

Recently, while browsing videos on motivation, I was struck by this quote from Will Smith – “Being realistic is the most commonly traveled road to mediocrity.”  You know, there were times in my life when I’ve been slammed for not being realistic – bupkiss I say!!!  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.  If you are at any type of a crossroads in  life, in your career, take some time to look within, find your spark, and be all that you can be.  The world is waiting for you to show up.

  • Do you believe that you can create whatever it is you want to create?
  • Is it time to do something you’ve never done before?
  • What will it take to move past your comfort zone?

Crossing our own barriers of security takes energy!  We can all use the help when initiating change and what better way than to harvest from mother nature?  Use the season of renewal to help you create, to vision, to reach new heights, to travel a new road to personal excellence.

You’ll be glad you did!
